Everyone
is welcome at the next exciting meeting of the
Shutesbury-Leverett Broadband Committee. We will be meeting at 7pm
on
Tuesday, October 7th at the LEVERETT Town Hall (upstairs). We have
a
lot of new stuff to cover, but there won't be any guest presentations,
so we can get right to work!
Proposed
Agenda:
1.
Comcast Cable. By the time we meet, two of us will have met with the
Comcast folks at their office in Springfield to hear more about the
results of the mail-in survey, and a bit more about their thoughts
on
bringing service to the Towns. We have been hearing different things
from the Comcast folks, and the latest has not been very optimistic.
So
it will be interesting to get some more definitive and detailed
information.
2.
Fiber-to-the-Home. Momentum continues to build, making a FTTH
network look more and more viable. We will have a report on a recent
two-day conference on the subject hosted by the Merton Group. We will
get a report on some very interesting developments being spearheaded
by
Sen. Stan Rosenberg, and a report on Tom Moylan's (Ashby Telecom)
progress, including a proposal he has drafted. We will also have more
information on the possible collaborative role of the Franklin Regional
Council of Governments (FRCOG).
3.
Committee Membership. Some nuts and bolts need to be addressed.
4.
Next meeting time and place: Tuesday, November 4, 7pm, Shutesbury
Town Hall.
