FTTH - met with Tom ? of Ashby Telecom. He brought along Amos (?) who is an
optical networking engineer. Tom's main messages were that our next step
should be a "Pole Study" to determine how much it'll cost to spruce up the
poles to hold the fiber.

He also said that it'll cost about $50,000 in order to generate the
estimated $3,000,000 needed for a two-town FTTH buildout.

The Rural Utility Service (RUS) was mentioned a few times as a possible
source of funds.

Comcast - not much to report. Aron had been told that they hadn't
studied the surveys yet. It appears that the response was quite good - over 200
returned so far.

Committee stuff - it was decided that we would meed the first Tuesday of
every month. Meetings will begin at 7:00pm, as has been the custom.

Dan will [and has already] take over management of the existing SLBG Yahoo
group. Actually, he created a new group that is only writeable by the committee members.

Glen Ayers of Leverett was voted onto the committee, subject to the approval
of the town of Leverett Select Board. Leverett has not yet officially
appointed any members to the committee.

It was decided that the URL will be included on all of our correspondence.
[Which URL is that - I didn't note it].

The minutes (once approved) will be sent to the town clerks of both town -
Lisa Stratford of Leverett and Leslie Bracebridge of Shutesbury.

Louise and Mark are going to meet with Mike Vito (an aide to Sen. Kerry) on
Friday the 12th at Bart's in Amherst at 3pm.

Next meeting is in Leverett on October 7th at 7pm. Fred has made the needed
arrangements.
